AW21 Trend #4: Perfect Pales
Can a look so timeless, versatile and classic even be considered a trend? Thankfully, neutrals are, once again, a welcome staple this season. French Designer and blogger Justine Laconte thinks when people are craving stability in their lives (aren’t we all?), we are drawn to things that are simple and familiar – and we couldn’t agree more. After a year of upheaval, neutral tones and natural fabrics offer comfort and respite for the mind and soul.
The best part about this trend? You won’t need to go searching far to find a showcase of all things neutral. Valleygirl, Portmans and Rockmans all have a stylish collection of tops, shirts, pants, skirts and knits in beige, camel, sand and cream. Layer similar shades to create an elegant monochrome look, or use a neutral base as a classic canvas, and add a splash new season individuality with some brighter accessories – blue is the undisputed king of accent colour for 2021.
Natural tones pair seamlessly with denim, black, white or grey, so you can mix them with your existing wardrobe basics to create smart looks for work or weekend. Materials are also key to building the look. Think pure wools, cottons, linens and leather in natural tones to complete a wardrobe that rates highly in comfort, style and sustainability.
At a time when we’re all a lot more conscious of spending wisely, and favouring quality over quantity, new-season neutrals may just be the hot investment tip of the year! Chances are you’ll enjoy years of wear (and style) from any simple, keep-for-life, neutral basics.
