Celebrate Chinese New Year
Chinese New Year is the celebration of the turn of the traditional lunisolar Chinese calendar. Traditionally celebrations run from the evening preceding the first day, to the famous Lantern Festival on the 15th day of the first calendar month. This year, the first day of the New Year will fall on 16 February.
Traditionally to support celebrations, the Lion Dance has been part of the Chinese culture for thousands of years and is a symbol of good fortune, happiness and good luck. Performed in a Lion costume, accompanied by the music of the beating drums, clashing symbols and resounding gongs - the dance imitates the beauty of a lion's movements and demonstrates martial arts agility.
